Nominations are now open for our awards categories for the State of Entrepreneurship.
Startup Evangelist of the Year– A Startup Evangelist is a person who supports local startups and establishes it as a standard in the community. They help set the community ideology, mindset and help facilitate communication between all of the major stakeholders. They engage the community regularly and share their ideas to push differing groups of opinion to discover common ground. It’s not about shouting with a megaphone when news breaks. It’s about having your ear to the ground to enforce transparency in messaging to retain the authenticity of our community and most importantly our entrepreneurs. The Startup Evangelist protects and preserves the spirit of the community by being the voice of reason with a “give first” mentality and by championing community.
Creative Entrepreneur 2020 – Dallas Startup Week will be awarding the Creative Entrepreneur 2020 award to honor a local creative that has made exceptional progress and/or impact with his/her product, service, business or organization in the most innovative of ways for the past year. For purposes of this award, the “Creative Industry” is composed of arts-centric businesses that range from entertainers, musicians, artists, architects, filmmakers, photographers, videographers, fashion designers, interior designers, advertising companies, etc.
Student Entrepreneur 2020 – Dallas Startup Week will be awarding the Student Entrepreneur 2020 award to honor a local student founder and their company that has made exceptional progress and impact with a product, service or organization in the most innovative of ways. We are looking for student nominees who are in the undergraduate or graduate program of a local college or university, with a company operating for at least 6 months with at least $500 in generated revenue.
Rising Entrepreneur Award – Dallas Startup Week will be awarding its inaugural Rising Entrepreneur Award to honor a local entrepreneur (that has been in business for no more than 7 years) making exceptional progress and/or impact with his/her product, service, business or organization in the most innovative of ways for the past year. Due to the disruption that COVID-19 has caused within the community and the industry, special consideration will be given to those entrepreneurs who made exceptional or inspiring pivots/choices that helped the community or their employees during the global pandemic crisis. The individuals nominated for this award should truly embody the heart and soul of what entrepreneurship is all about.
Nominations will be accepted until Friday, August 28th, 2020 at 11:59pm CST. The top five nominees from each category will be recognized, and winners will be announced during the State of Entrepreneurship Address on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 6 to 8pm CST.
